Our mission and how to submit music
This isn’t just a label, it’s an incubator. BlackSine provides artists with resources that allow them to succeed in the underground.
Though we don’t have the financial resources of a for-profit label, we do something most small labels don’t – we develop the artist.
Beyond releasing and distributing artist’s music, we can facilitate industry connections, provide contacts to channels that may share your music, educate artists on marketing and networking techniques, send promos to DJs, share online resources, provide mastering services, and more.
Additionally, while we don’t provide grants (yet), we are always on the lookout for grants from other organizations that our artists can apply to.
To submit:
- We are looking for less mainstream, reasonably experimental house and techno since that is where our networks have the most impact. Genres like hard techno, tech house, progressive house, and EDM will have a harder time getting signed.
- Artists who apply should have a professional online presence and attitude since we work with motivated artists. Much of what we provide requires execution on the artist’s end because this is meant to be an opportunity for growth and education.
Ultimately, we don’t want artists to remain on the label, but instead, we want them to have the skills and resources necessary to distribute their own music and own all of its rights. - Artists on this label can contribute to the journal by getting to pick artists that they want to interview, allowing them face time with artists they love and want to network with. Articles will be published in a Q/A format, so it doesn’t require advanced writing techniques. However, you should know how to transcribe and paraphrase quotes. We will consult you on how to formulate questions to ask them in the interview.
